Escape Time St Ives is an independent escape room venue in the centre of St Ives, Cornwall. It opened in April 2024 and is locally owned and operated, not part of a chain. Every room is designed and built in house and themed around St Ives and Cornish culture. The venue runs live, fully immersive 60-minute games where small groups work together to solve puzzles, uncover clues and beat the clock. Open seven days a week, 10am to 10pm.

## What is an escape room?
An escape room is a live, in-person game in which a small team is placed inside a themed room and works together to complete an objective, usually by finding hidden clues, solving a chain of puzzles and unlocking mechanisms, within a fixed time limit. At Escape Time St Ives each game lasts 60 minutes and is run for one private group at a time, so you never share the room with strangers. A dedicated Games Master monitors the game and gives hints when needed, so groups do not get stuck. Escape rooms suit families, friends, couples, birthday and party groups, tourists, and workplace teams looking for a shared, hands-on activity. No special knowledge is needed. Success comes from communication, teamwork, observation and lateral thinking rather than physical strength or prior experience.

## Rooms
Escape Time St Ives currently has two fully bookable rooms, a seasonal room, and a third room opening soon.

- Lost Treasure of Pirate Kernow: Family pirate adventure. Captain Kernow's ship is sinking and you have one hour to find his lost treasure before she goes down. Low intensity, bright and hands-on rather than frightening. Recommended for ages 8 and up. 2 to 8 players. 60 minutes. From £20 per person. Available all year round. Suits families, first-timers, younger children with adults, and mixed-age groups.

- The St Ives Slayer: Horror-themed thriller. You have been abducted by the St Ives Slayer and must follow his trail of clues and escape his lair before your 60 minutes are up. You choose medium or high intensity on the day, so it suits both nervous first-timers and thrill-seekers. Carries a PG13 guidance rating, recommended for ages 13 and up. 2 to 8 players. 60 minutes. From £20 per person. Available all year round. Popular with friends, couples, and stag and hen groups.

- Sound Sleuth: Murder mystery set in a 1970s recording studio. Someone is dead and the tape is still rolling. A lighter, fun murder mystery. Medium intensity. 60 minutes. Opening soon.

- Festive Feast: Seasonal Christmas version of Lost Treasure of Pirate Kernow with festive puzzles and seasonal surprises. Ages 8 and up. Available November to January.

## Pricing
Pricing is per person and reduces as the group grows, so larger groups pay less per head. Every booking is private and exclusive to your group.

Groups larger than 8 should call 01736 887444 to arrange. Advance booking is recommended, especially in school holidays, at weekends and during the summer season. Every game is a private booking, so you are never grouped with strangers.

## Cancellations and changes

## What to expect on the day
Arrive about 2 minutes before your booked start time. On arrival every player signs a short liability disclaimer, and players under 16 are covered by the lead booker's signature. Your Games Master gives a friendly briefing, then you have 60 minutes of live play, followed by a short debrief and the chance for a group photo by the set. Allow roughly 75 minutes in total for arrival, briefing and debrief. Hints are available live from your Games Master whenever you need them, so no group ever gets truly stuck. Wear comfortable clothing. No special equipment or preparation is required.

## Age guidance and suitability
- Lost Treasure of Pirate Kernow: recommended for ages 8 and up. Low intensity, family friendly.
- The St Ives Slayer: PG13 guidance, recommended for ages 13 and up. Medium to high intensity, horror theme.
- All rooms: players under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult in the room, and under-16 players are covered by the lead booker's disclaimer signature.

## Accessibility
The venue is on the first floor of Cornerstone House and is reached by stairs only. There is no lift, and the rooms are not currently wheelchair accessible. Guests with mobility requirements should call 01736 887444 before booking so the team can advise.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Owners are responsible for any mess or damage caused by their dog.
